Who We Are

The Knuckleheads Winter Recreation Association (KWRA) is a volunteer-driven organization committed to maintaining and enhancing multi seasonal  recreation opportunities in the beautiful backcountry of Powell River, British Columbia. Our focus is on preserving access to the Knuckleheads region, a beloved alpine playground for hikers, backcountry skiers, snowshoers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Our Mission

We strive to:
✅ Maintain and improve trails, cabins, and infrastructure for four season recreation.
✅ Promote safe and responsible backcountry travel.
✅ Foster a respectful and inclusive outdoor community.
✅ Work with local organizations and government to ensure sustainable access to the area.

What we do

Our dedicated volunteers put in countless hours to:

🔹 Maintain trails for all users.

🔹 Manage and upkeep backcountry cabins for public use.

🔹 Advocate for responsible land use and conservation efforts.

🔹 Host community events to bring backcountry recreation lovers together.

Why It Matters

The Knuckleheads region offers unparalleled access to pristine alpine terrain, making it a gem for outdoor recreation in Powell River. Without ongoing maintenance and advocacy, access to these playgrounds could become limited. By supporting KWRA—whether through volunteering, donations, or membership—you help ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy this incredible backcountry destination.
